Major roadworks to cause delays
Major roadworks to cause delays By SARA THOMAS MOTORISTS face more delays on the A55 after a £1.9m resurfacing and maintenance contract was announced between Llanfairfechan and Abergwyngregyn, Work is due to start on October 13 and last for 13 weeks, with a fortnight break over Christmas. Arrive Alive speed cameras will be in operation to ensure a 40mph limit is observed. North Wales Trunk Road Agency in conjunction with the Welsh Assembly Government announced the contract award to Lafarge Aggregates Limited yesterday. It will include resurfacing and repairs between Llanfairfechan roundabout and Abergwyngregyn. Initially, there will be lane 2 closures in both directions to provide a safe work area for the construction of crossing points to facilitate contraflow during the main parts of the works. There will be a lane width restriction of 3.65m for the duration of the works. During the works period, there will be restricted access to the village of Llanfairfechan at junctions 14 or 15. But provision will be made to allow vehicles to perform a U-turn at the point of closure and gain access to the A55. Appropriate signage will be in place.
