Llanfairfechan Town Twinning
Accommodation for the visitors will be provided by members of the Town Twinning Steering Group, who will also conduct a tour of the village and the local area. A special meal, with a menu consisting entirely of Welsh cuisine, will be provided on Saturday evening at the Beach Hut restaurant, on Llanfairfechan's promenade. On Sunday, the group will visit Christ Church, Ysgol Pant y Rhedyn, followed by a presentation to members of the Town Council and the Town Twinning Steering Group, with an exchange of gifts, followed by visits to local places of interest, including Conwy Castle and Quay, Aber and Llandudno. Throughout the weekend, the visitors will also see local sporting and community events that represent the life of the village. The Young Fire Fighters will put on a display at the Fire Station, before the group visit the Croquet Club. They will then watch some of the local football teams play. The programme is expected to be extremely beneficial to the village, especially in terms of educational opportunities. It is hoped that exchange visits will be organised for children from the two communities in the future, with links between the respective schools being established soon. Initial funding from the Town Twinning programme has been obtained from two local businesses and the Town Council, and it is hoped that this will be boosted next year with European funding. |
