Llanfairfechan has many sporting and leisure options for the visitor (or resident!) to pass their time during an enjoyable stay.

Whether you are looking for a relaxing time, or are more actively inclined, Llanfairfechan has a wide variety of activities to choose from.


The town’s nine hole golf course (see map below), all par 3’s with many holes over 200 yards, is situated in beautiful panoramic surroundings.

Llanfairfechan Croquet Club is highly regarded and very successful in competitions. It has two lawns located at Shore Road West, near to the promenade, and often hosts open days to introduce the sport to interested novices. Crown Green Bowls

Llanfairfechan Crown Green Bowls Club has greens adjacent to the Croquet Club’s lawns at Shore Road West, and shares the Croquet Club’s club-house facilities. Details of the Crown Green Bowling Club will follow soon.

Short Mat Bowling

The “LLANFAIRFECHAN SHORT MAT BOWLING CLUB” (CLWB BOWLIO MAT BYR LLANFAIRFECHAN) organises and promotes competitive short mat bowling between members, on a friendly basis, and with other clubs.

Membership is open to all comers over the age of 12 years, upon payment of the annual membership fee of £10.00 for adults and £5.00 for juniors. On joining new members also pay £2.00 for the Rule Book. New members must receive coaching sessions on the basic rules and how to play the game.

The Club meets in the Community Centre, Llanfairfechan, on Tuesdays 2.00 to 4.00 pm. Members pay £3.00 per session and non-members £4.00. Non-members are always welcome. The sessional fee includes tea/coffee and biscuits.

In and around Llanfairfechan there are numerous rivers and lakes where the amateur or experienced angler can fish for trout, salmon and sea trout.

The sea-shore at Llanfairfechan also attracts many anglers, who generally fish for bass, whiting, plaice and mackerel on the on-coming tide. Sea Bass visit the West Shore in September and October.

Permits can be obtained from the Post Office on Village Road.

Sailing and Windsurfing

Llanfairfechan Sailing Club has good launching facilities and a dinghy park, welcomes visitors and their craft at any time of year. The club offers temporary membership which entitles the visitor to all the facilities enjoyed by the members, including use of the licensed Clubhouse. [map]

Windsurfing is also a very popular activity and access to the sea is very easy from the promenade, via a slipway.
